Located on the east-side of Indianapolis, just west of Irvington, the Emerson Heights neighborhood is a solid middle-class neighborhood of historic bungalows and tree-lined streets. Seeing the challenges confronting other nearby neighborhoods while seeing the revitalization of Irvington, the neighborhood association held a design charrette workshop with the CAP:IC team. After gathering input from neighborhood residents and stakeholders, the charrette explored ideas for once again making the neighborhood competitive for middle-class families and include developing a central village heart, implementing complete streets and walkable connections, developing a comprehensive environmental identity package, and adding green social places.
