Legacy Greens

On the Near East Side of Indianapolis, neighborhoods are facing residential vacancies, lost businesses and investors, and blighted areas with environmental concerns. To address these problems, this urban design proposes innovative planning and development for the area.

The 2050 proposal for Legacy Greens at East 10th and Rural Streets integrates green infrastructure strategies and neighborhood amenities into a transit-oriented neighborhood. A node along the Indy Connect Orange Line, Legacy Greens uses Bus Rapid Transit as a catalyst for
revitalization.

As a transit community focused on preserving and enhancing its urban ecosystem, Legacy Greens uses key design and policy principles to create a neighborhood identity. Green infrastructure strategies, an open space network, and new neighborhood services and amenities reestablish this historic community as a destination for residents and visitors of Indianapolis.
